HIV/AIDS prevention among transgender

Tamilnadu state AIDS Control Society (TNSACS) Chennai has given a project exclusively for MSM on HIV / AIDS intervention from 2013 onwards.
A separate field office is functioning at Ramnagar, Coimbatore where in 7 staffs are working under this project. The main aim of the project is to enrol the transgenders and provide quality STD care services and preventive issues for HIV/AIDS
In this project, 958 MSM were enrolled and receiving treatment services on STD, HIV/AIDS in linking with CMC, ART Centre Coimbatore.
The Rehabilitation activities like Auto ricksaw, tiffen stall, Tailoring machine were given to 13 Transgenders for their livelihood. This was helped from police commissioner Coimbatore. Besides, Imayam has helped all Transgenders to get ID card from the Dean, CMC Hospital, Coimbatore.
The Govt. Special benefits like free patta, ration card, separate Toilet for MSM Ukkadam are availed for MSM betterment.
The free condoms were distributed through condom out let for prevention of HIV/AIDS. The staff team along with peer educators assures the quality Health Check up on time.
Through this project, 23 PLHA were identified among this target group. A special attention on Nutrition food, ART treatment and counselling services were given to them.
